Calvary Addiction Employee Helps Develop OrganizationProviding Addiction Treatment to Children, Families
PHOENIX – (July 28, 2010) – Bobbe McGinley, gambling program director for Calvary Addiction Recovery Center, a Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) facility, recently co-founded PITCH 4 KIDZ, a non-profit organization providing positive interventions targeting communication and healing for children. The program, also founded by Stacey Beck, wife of deceased Major League Baseball player Rod Beck, provides exciting, age-appropriate three-day support programs. Aimed at teaching coping and communication skills for children living in families impacted by substance abuse and addiction, the organization offers a safe, energetic and professional environment that fosters education, healing and skill building. “This is something very close to me and Stacey, and we felt the cry for help from children dealing with addiction and substance abuse within the family household,” said McGinley. “We established PITCH 4 KIDZ because we believe every child deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, value and worth.” McGinley has worked in the chemical dependency field since 1988. She has always felt the need to serve those suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction, but also recognized the need to address compulsive gambling as well. McGinley became certified by the Arizona Council on Compulsive Gambling, Inc. in 1996 and nationally certified in 1999. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, approximately one in four children in the U.S. are exposed to alcohol abuse or alcohol dependence in the family.
